PERFORMANCE

22 (for #SpringBox 01)

2021

The work 22, originally made for the exhibition C.U.O.R.E.(Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events) was invited to be a part of a collective show #01 Spring Box in September 2021 at Beatrice Burati Anderson Space & Gallery in Venice.

For this exhibition, 22 was remade from the beggining. Instead of manufactured objects used previously, the wooden box and the ash burner were handmade in Slovakia. The plants were picked and dried half in Italy and half in Slovakia, the two places between which the artist lives and works.

22 (for C.U.O.R.E.)

2021

The action 22 took place in February 2021 at Palazzo Lucarini Contemporary in Trevi, where the artist spent two days in an art residence as part of collective WRG for the artistic process experience C.U.O.R.E.(Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events), a continous collective show created and curated by Margerita Morgantin.

In the room n. 22 chosen specifically for the collective WRG, an ash burner with a wooden box was installed on the floor and started to be open to pick one of 22 dried plants it contained.

During the two days of performance, Stropkaiová burned each essence and spreaded it´s smoke through the whole space of the Museum. These scents accompained presentations, exercises, workshops, discussions and free time that people present that days spent together. It became an atmosphere signature of the moment, hence the herbs were chosen specifically for their healing and mystical properties.

FEET HAPPENING

2018

Under the leading of Bruna Esposito, in 2017, in specifically chosen space of Sculpture laboratory, a site specific performative piece Feet Happening was presented.

On a real size plaster copy of Stropkaiová´s feet a wooden desk was carefully placed with no fixation, to create a base for this event.

Everybody present was asked to take one object from the territory of the class and put it on the base freely, one by one. And so the slow cautious process of relatively stable construction started to be build by all people present in the space.

The action had it´s conclusion with the object that caused trembling fatal imbalance of unsecured structure and it´s eventuall falling.

TEACH ME HOW TO OPEN...

2016

In 2016 at Accademia di Belle Arti in L´Aquila, Stropkaiová engaged in a performance called Teach me how to open... The work was inspired by the belief that only through communication and mutual collaboration real progress can occur. Eclosed inside of a white cotton bag, silently holding an orange pen marker, she wrote from the inside of the bag a phrase: "Teach me how to open...", and waited for a response from the public. Soon enough a blue marker appeared on a canvas, writing from the outter side: "Ask someone right to help you.", and the conversation between me and the public started.
