VISUAL ARTIST, PERFORMER
“I preceive art as a healing instrument and witness noticing constant changes of one-self. Therefore my works can be seen as a sort of diary speaking through symbols – research, prayers, solutions to difficult problems, alternative kinds of communication.. These works are layed chronologically on the timeline of a natural pathway upon which I walk and traverse.”
Tatiana Stropkaiová born in Kosice(1993) is currently teaching at Škola Umeleckého Priemyslu in Košice, Slovakia. Thanks to previous studies and years long working experiences in Italy she splits her life and work between the two countries.
The work of the artist spreads into two major lines, of which figurative painting stays the main direction and the performance the additional, completing one. In her visual work, she often circles around the thematics of repetition and it’s positive integration in ones work. Stropkaiová uses frequently a single motif to freely but deliberately duplicate and create new versions of it.
Usually she works in series or bigger, time requiring projects, where she experiments with tecniques, unusual forms and pallette to underline the internal states of depicted subjects. The represented subjects appear as an actors in an unknown narrative, possessing specific emotional energy. Main interest of the artist is to portray an intimate aspect of these characters, going beyond purely figurative dimension and entering a dynamic, elusive and lively atmosphere, thanks to which one can grasp the vulnerable, often melancholic state of depicted subject. One can see these images as an emotional figures, evoking particular moods that can only be deeply experienced in solitude.
